SILENT DISCO – THANK YOU FROM LISA
On Friday 18 June, we FINALLY had our K-6 Silent Disco – and it went off! Our kids really know how to get their glow on! Some impressive dance moves, gorgeous outfits, great song requests and a lot of excitement made this event a super success.
Our thanks to Coles Lindfield who kindly supported the event by contributing to our fabulous treat boxes.
Chris and Camila from Silent Sounds ensured the Disco was 100% fun from start to finish and we had a team of wonderful parent volunteers who pitched in meeting and greeting, face painting, chaperoning – and busting a move or two (we saw you!). Thank you to all the volunteers – it was so great to meet so many new faces and have a fun couple of hours together!
We’ve honestly been inundated with feedback from you all about how much the kids loved it, so we’re super happy to inform you that you also raised over $3500 for your school!!
My personal thanks to Hayley von Giese and Briana Mandile for being the best Disco Divas ever – and to Lou Diebe for staying back on a Friday night and always answering my questions, and to Sahin (Facilities Supervisor) and Deb Smithers (Business Manager), who couldn’t have been more helpful. LLV rocks!

PARENT COCKTAIL PARTY
The K-6 kids have got their glow on and now it’s time for parents to get their glam on! On Saturday 14 August 7:30pm, we invite LLV parents to dress up, enjoy delicious food, live music, door prizes and great company upstairs at The Greengate in Killara!
We’re very excited to announce that our entertainment for the evening will be provided by our very own Kim Sheehy, LLV music teacher extraordinaire. Kim is well known for her stunning performances on The Voice and we are so lucky to have the Kim Sheehy Trio performing across the whole night!
Tickets will go on sale in the first week of Term 3, and capacity is limited – don’t miss out!
PRIZE DONATION REQUEST
We’d love to be able to run an Online Auction alongside our Parent Cocktail Party – so we’re asking our Friends for help! If you have a business you’d like to promote by offering a prize, we’d love to hear from you. It can be goods or services, big or small – we’d love to know what you do and how you can help!
If you’d like to put forward a prize – or you know a business that could donate – please fill out this form.
You can also simply email Lisa at firstname.lastname@example.org with any ideas or questions!
BAKE STALL – THANK YOU FROM HEAD ELF, KAREENA!
Our Head Elf, Kareena Totonjian, ably assisted by a batch of enthusiastic home bakers, ran a very successful Bake Stall at the recent LLV Athletics Carnival in Marsfield. Our thanks to those of you who set aside time to create some delicious treats for our athletes, and to Kareena and her team who staffed the stall all day – we sold out! And raised a healthy amount of funds for our school!
If you think you would like in on some Elf action, we are always looking for more volunteers!
Email email@example.com for more information.
DID YOU KNOW?
If you are on FaceBook, there is an LLV Parents Group page, which is a great place to connect with other parents in our community, keep up to date with events and happenings and ask any questions you might have. Just search LLV Parent Group or click here to join!
There is also a Stage WhatsApp group for every stage, run by an FOTV “Stage Socialite”. Stage Socialites are parent volunteers who organise and run stage-based community events for the stage their child is a part of. This helps foster connection within the LLV Community.
If you do not know who your Stage Socialite is, or if you are not receiving FOTV emails, or are unaware there is a stage-based WhatsApp group – please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
You can also visit the Events page on the FOTV website to find info on events happening throughout the year.
There is also the option to subscribe to these events, and have the events downloaded to your calendar, so you will not miss anything!
Some parts of the FOTV website are password protected. If you do not know the password please contact Sharon who leads the FOTV Tech working group at email@example.com
A MESSAGE FROM KATHY, FOTV VP
Hey LLV Community,
I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to our awesome parent group for showing so much support for our two mini Term 2 fundraisers – Crazy Socks & Hair Day and Support our Farmers: Mandarin Drive.
It was heart-warming to see the kids, big and small, having such a fun day on Crazy Socks and Hair Day.
We also saved 44 boxes of Mandarins from going to landfill.
Am looking forward to creating more community buzz in Term 3.
Enjoy the holidays,
Vice President – FOTV
CLEAR YOUR CALENDARS!
The Inaugural LLV Sustainability Fair is coming up on Sunday, August 29. More details to follow closer to the date.
This is a cool new event which we hope to host in years to come, where you will be able to find pre-loved toys and clothes, eat delicious food, engage in fun workshops that encourage low-waste living, and much more!
This is an excellent opportunity to re-purpose items from your home – we are looking for donations of good quality used clothing, toys, books and sporting goods.
A collection box will be placed in the school Foyer in Week 2 of Term 3 to enable an easy drop off!
We would love your help in making our first Sustainability Fair a success!
The Sustainability Team
A MESSAGE FROM JASON, FOTV PRESIDENT
Term 2 2021 started off in a way none of us would’ve anticipated, but we came together as a village and grew stronger as a community throughout the term. Our ROAR music festival amplified our combined voice and Winterfest allowed us to shout from the loudest mountain top (even through our face masks): that we are proud of who we are, we won’t let others drag us down and we will celebrate our successes proudly, with passion and always together (whilst observing the 4 sqm rule).
Thank you all for participating and helping out in the FOTV events, fundraisers and activities this term. It is a privilege to represent such an amazing parent & carer body!
In the next section, are some links you may have missed related to the negative media that the school received in late April – some light holiday reading & listening for you!
Finally, some housekeeping from our last FOTV General Meeting (GM) that we’d promised to send info on:
At the GM, I informed all that I am the parent representative on the Community Consultative Committee established for the Lindfield Learning Village Stage 2 Stage Significant Project. More info on the project can be found here.
Our guest speaker on the GM’s panel, David Hope, is the President of the Northern Sydney District Council of P&C Associations (NSDC). I am also an Executive member of this Council. More info on the Council is available via this Dropbox document (gives a good overview of what the Council does) and the Council’s Facebook page.
Please contact me (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any feedback or questions (as a parent) related to the state significant project; or if you’d like to know more about the NSDC.
SCHOOL HOLIDAYS READING AND LISTENING
ICYMI, here is Jason’s article in response to the negative media in April, which is no longer available via the EducationHQ website on which it was first published.
Jason was also interviewed by 95b FM, an independent New Zealand radio station located at the University of Auckland, who were following the LLV news story from ‘across the ditch’. The recording of the full interview, which also includes comments from New Zealand education experts is available here.
CONNECTING WITH YOUR CHILD
FIVE question prompts you could share with your child to foster communication about their day at school. (Instead of or in addition to “how was your day today”) from Angela (FOTV Parent Liaison).
“What made your brain work hard today?”
“ What made you laugh today?”
“What will you miss the most about school during the school holidays?”
“Is there anything that surprised you about your day today?
“Did anything give you a feeling of butterflies in your tummy today, or made your heart beat fast?”.
Finally, a LARGE thank you from all the FOTV Leadership Team for your support of our events, our newsletter, our fundraisers and our calls for Volunteers.
Without you we couldn’t make all the FOTV events possible.
We wish you a lovely term break, full of relaxation, connection and rejuvenation.
We look forward to seeing you all in Term 3!
The FOTV Leadership Team,
Jason, Lisa, Kathy, Chris, Alyssa and Angela
